As CEO, Mr. Dechant has been a vocal proponent of nearshore markets as desirable alternatives to typical offshore options. He has been passionate about the advantages of the culture affinity, the quality of the educated workforce, and the growing business climate of the Caribbean, and in particular Jamaica. For this reason, ibex is committed to growth in the area, and as Bob has publicly stated, the company will grow to 5,000 employees in Jamaica over the next few years.

His strong interest in nearshore expansion started even before he joined ibex as CEO. His experience prior to ibex was as the Chief Sales, Marketing and Client Services Officer for Qualfon, a rapidly growing global BPO provider with a particular focus on nearshore service delivery capabilities. Under his leadership, they developed locations in Central America and the Caribbean, pioneering Guyana as a viable nearshore location. During his time as the Executive Vice President for Sales, Marketing and Client Services for Stream Global Services (now Convergys); he helped them to grow a nearshore expansion totalling over 5,000 seats.

With over 25 years of leadership experience in strategic sales, marketing, client management and operations with IBM, Convergys, 3Com Corporation, and Modus Media, Bob is a proven executive in the business process outsourcing and technology industries. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University and is based in Washington D.C., where ibex headquarters is located.
