Catherine Kadenyeka Masinde is Practice Manager of the WBG Global Business Regulation Unit in the Macro, Trade and Investment Department of the WBG, currently based in Washington DC.
Prior to this, she served as Practice Manager in the Trade and Competitiveness Department covering the Eastern Africa region from 2014 to 2017, and IFC Head of Investment Climate regional operations from 2013-2014, IFC Principal Operations Officer from 2011-2017, IFC Senior Private Sector Development Specialist from 2007 to 2011.
During her earlier career in development, Catherine worked for 10 years as a Private Sector Advisor at the UK’s Department for International Development in East Africa, managing private sector development programs in many areas including business environment reform, SME access to finance, and business development services for SMEs. During this time, Catherine helped governments in East Africa design and implement reform programs which continue to drive reforms in the region. Prior to this, Catherine also worked as a Professor of Business and Management at the University of Nairobi and visiting professor in other universities, as well as a researcher and author on enterprise and private sector development related issues.
