Mr. Amiel is the Past President and current Treasurer of the Caribbean Poultry Association (CPA). He is also the President Caribbean Agri-business Association (CABA) Jamaica, Immediate Past President CABA Regional, Past President Professional Societies Association of Jamaica (PSAJ), and Past President of Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a Founding Member of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) and the Caribbean Agribusiness Association (CABA).
He is a proud graduate of Kingston College and attended the University of London, (BVetMed), Royal Veterinary College (MRCVS), University of Queensland (MVSc), University of the West Indies (Dip. Mgt. Studies) and was awarded Jamaica Government and Commonwealth Scholarships.
Mr. Amiel also worked as teacher of natural science at Kingston College, Senior Veterinary Officer with the Ministry of Agriculture, Jamaica, Chief Technical Officer of the Jamaica Livestock Association and Head of the Poultry Division, Seprod (JA.) Ltd. He represented Canada and the Caribbean on the Executive of the Commonwealth Veterinary Association and the Commonwealth Association of Professional Centres.
He currently represents the Agribusiness sector on the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CARICOM) Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) and an original member of the Caribbean Regional Agricultural Planning network-CaRAPAN. Mr. Amiel is also a member of CARICOM Agriculture Disaster Risk Management Committee to 2014, Director of the Bio-Tech Research & Development Institute (BRDI), Minister’s Representative on the Veterinary Committee at the Ministry of Agriculture Industry and Commerce, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, and Chairman of the Tivoli Gardens High School.
Mr. Amiel was a member of the Jamaica Bureau of Standards Animal Feeds and Meats committee and the Breed Societies of the Jamaica Livestock Association. He also chaired the Pig Industry Development Committee (IICA), the Jamaica Dairy Development Advisory Committee,
and was Vice Chairman of the Jamaica Dairy Development Board.
He finds time for recreation in the performing arts and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Little Theatre Movement (LTM) of Jamaica.
