On July 1, 2016, Dr. Wayne Henry assumed duties as Director General of the PIOJ, the agency of government leading the process of policy formulation on economic, social and environmental issues and external co-operation management. Prior to joining the PIOJ, he spent five years as Vice President, Government Affairs of the Scotiabank Group, served as Chief Technical Advisor to the Minister of Finance, as well as Special Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture. He previously worked as the World Bank Representative in Jamaica, and spent several years as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus).
He is currently the Chairman of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), the PetroCaribe Development Fund (PDF), a member of the Generation Procurement Entity (GPE), the National Financial Inclusion Council and the Advisory Board for the Governor General’s Programme of Excellence. He is a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St. Andrew.
Dr. Henry holds a PhD in Agricultural and Development Economics as well as an MA in Economics from the Ohio State University, an MBA (Finance) from Howard University and a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies. He is married to Dr. Gail Webster, an Ophthalmologist, and has two sons, Matthew and Joshua, and a daughter, Gabrielle.
